The guaranteed fee surpasses Tottenham's previous record of £65 million for Dominic Solanke in 2024.

Fernandes joined West Ham from Southampton for £38 million, with a clause awarding Southampton 15 percent of this transfer.

Spurs shifted focus to Fernandes after Newcastle United rejected their £75 million to £80 million bid for Sandro Tonali.

The London club has already secured Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, and Andy Robertson this window.

Manchester United withdrew from the race because decision-makers refused to exceed their internal valuation.

BBC reported that United also doubted the midfielder's commitment to moving to Old Trafford, as he never explicitly revealed a club preference during negotiations.

Fernandes recorded four goals and four assists in 38 appearances last season despite West Ham's relegation. He is scheduled to undergo medical examinations to complete the transfer.
