The pursuit intensified after Al-Ahli mutually terminated the contract of Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez for approximately €14.5 million, creating an immediate opening in their offensive line.
While club officials have also monitored Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, Salah remains the ultimate priority due to his global commercial and athletic impact.
Salah's Representative Dismisses Speculation
Regarding the intense speculation surrounding the forward's future, his legal representative dismissed public discussions on the matter via social media on June 12, 2026.
"Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive future plans with people not involved in them," said Ramy Abbas Issa, lawyer and adviser.
The uncertainty surrounding Salah's destination has revived historical comments from former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who urged the winger to consider returning to Stamford Bridge.

"If I am selfish, I will tell Salah to leave Liverpool and return to Chelsea," Drogba said.
"My opinion is that Salah will remain the best, no matter if he continues at Liverpool or if he moves."
Drogba emphasized that the Egyptian attacker possesses the quality to elevate any squad regardless of his ultimate choice.
"Any other team would perform better [with him] because he understands what he is doing, is good at scoring and creating goals, and only needs the confidence of the coach," Drogba added.
Salah concluded his nine-year tenure at Anfield after netting 257 goals and winning multiple Premier League titles before manager Arne Slot was replaced by Andoni Iraola.
