The Colorado Avalanche signed unrestricted free agent forward Jaden Schwartz to a three-year, $9.75 million contract on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, keeping the veteran with the club through the 2028-29 season.

The deal carries an average annual value and salary cap hit of $3.25 million per season, according to reports from TSN and Sportsnet.

This marks the first major free agency acquisition of the summer for the reigning Presidents' Trophy winners.

Schwartz joins Colorado after completing a five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Seattle Kraken, where he served as an alternate captain.

The 34-year-old winger recorded 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 50 games during an injury-shortened 2025-26 campaign.

The move brings the Wilcox, Saskatchewan native back to the state of Colorado, where he played two seasons of collegiate hockey at Colorado College from 2010 to 2012.

He was originally selected 14th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Over his 15-year NHL career, Schwartz has amassed 233 goals and 320 assists for 553 points in 861 regular-season games.

He won a Stanley Cup championship with St. Louis in 2019, contributing 20 points in 26 postseason games during that title run.
