Easter Eggs and Continuity

The wardrobe includes intentional design elements linking back to the original films, such as a pink heart motif featured on Elle's clothing and her dog Bruiser's collar.

"There are little Easter eggs throughout from the original movies, but also from our world that we created," Byblow said.

De Rakoff added, "I love the heart shoes because who doesn't love a heart shoe? Then there are the hearts on the Nirvana T-shirt.

There are motifs that continue all the way through."

Reese Witherspoon, who originated the role, actively collaborated by sending original pieces for the creative team to examine.

"Reese sent over quite a few pieces, but we used them as just inspiration," Byblow said. "She — along with our producing team — is the biggest collaborator."

A specific pink plaid shirt was integrated into the final episode to symbolize Elle's acceptance of her new life in Seattle.

"It was always going to be the pink plaid," Byblow said.

"It is such a special moment in time where Elle is really accepting Seattle and finishing what she's started."
