FC Barcelona is making a strong push to sign Valencia CF midfielder Javi Guerra, reportedly offering the player a six-year contract to demonstrate long-term commitment.

The move, reported by Spanish outlets Plaza Deportiva and SPORT on July 2, 2026, is part of the Catalan club's strategy to convince the 23-year-old Spain international that Camp Nou is the best place for his career.

Sporting Director Deco has taken the lead in pursuing Guerra, aiming to secure the player's agreement before opening formal talks with Valencia.

Guerra is under contract with Valencia until mid-2029, with a release clause set at €40 million ($45 million) in July, rising to €60 million ($68.5 million) in late August.

Valencia is reluctant to sell their academy product, but Barcelona hopes to negotiate a lower fee by including players like Ferran Torres or Marc Casado in a part-exchange deal.

Alternatively, the Blaugrana may rely on Guerra to push for an exit.

Guerra has made 118 top-flight appearances for Valencia and recently scored the equalizer against Barcelona on the final day of the league season at Mestalla.

Despite exploratory meetings between Deco and Guerra's representatives in Barcelona, the club reportedly prioritizes signing Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez.
