Turkish club Fenerbahce announced on July 3, 2026, that it has reached an agreement to acquire Netherlands defender Nathan Ake from Manchester City, ending his six-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The Super Lig runners-up stated that personal terms have been settled with the 31-year-old center-back.

According to BBC Sport, the final details are being concluded, with the package potentially reaching £8.5 million including add-ons, while the base transfer fee stands at £7 million.

Ake had one year remaining on his contract after joining City from Bournemouth for £40 million in 2020.

He saw reduced playing time in his final season under manager Pep Guardiola, registering only six starts out of 18 total Premier League appearances.

The acquisition represents a successful pursuit for Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim, who had designated the Dutch international as a priority transfer target before his election last month.

"The player, who wore the jersey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will join our team in the Austria camp following the permission process," Fenerbahce said in a statement.

Manchester City has yet to issue an official comment regarding the departure of Ake, who recorded 177 total appearances for the club and won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, and two League Cups.

According to ESPN, Ake played in three of the Netherlands' four World Cup matches in 2026.
