Security staff at Aberdeen Airport have officially called off 14 days of scheduled strike action after reaching a fresh pay agreement with their employer, ICTS HBS Security.
The baggage screening workers, members of the Unite union, had voted unanimously to walk out on alternating dates between July 6 and August 1, 2026, following a breakdown in conciliation talks managed by Acas.

The planned walkouts threatened severe travel disruptions for Scottish holidaymakers just after local schools broke up for summer holidays on July 2.
Union Criticism Before Settlement
Prior to the settlement, the union criticized the employer's financial stance.
Sharon Graham, General Secretary of Unite, stated, "ICTS is a very profitable company that can easily afford to give our members a decent pay increase.
It has been caught red-handed putting profits before people."
Financial records filed in April showed that the parent group, ICTS (UK) Limited, reported annual profits of £7.6 million for 2025, up from £4.4 million the previous year.

Paula Buchan, Industrial Officer of Unite, had warned, "ICTS would rather cause massive disruption at the airport than positively work with Unite to resolve this dispute.
Strike action will cause significant delays at Aberdeen airport."
Breakthrough Agreement
Following the new breakthrough, the employer confirmed that the 14-day strike schedule had been completely abandoned.
An unnamed spokesperson for ICTS said, "We're pleased to confirm that an agreement with our colleagues working within hold baggage screening at Aberdeen airport has been reached.
We have been informed that the proposed industrial action will now not take place."
