Former two-division champion Conor McGregor will return to the octagon for the first time in five years to face Max Holloway in a five-round welterweight headliner at UFC 329.

The event takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 11, 2026.

The highly anticipated matchup serves as a rematch of their August 2013 bout, which McGregor won via unanimous decision.

McGregor has been sidelined since suffering a severe leg break during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

Training Camp Insights

Longtime UFC reporter Megan Olivi visited McGregor during his training camp in Dublin this past June.

She reported observing significant positive indicators regarding his confidence, physical conditioning, and dedication to his preparation.

"I went to Dublin right before the UFC White House show, and I think we can expect to see an old school Conor McGregor in terms of his confidence, and Mystic Mac and who he presents in the press conference," said Olivi.

Olivi noted that public betting lines have begun narrowing in McGregor's favor following public glimpses of his current physical shape.

She emphasized that despite his lengthy layoff, McGregor has a history of defying expectations.

"And I do think he took training really seriously for this one. I am greatly looking forward to this fight between him and Max at 170.

To be honest, I don't really know who the weight class benefits more," said Olivi.
