The Mt Olive Pickle Company has withdrawn from the Great American State Fair in Washington DC after a video displayed at the North Carolina booth contained a Confederate flag, according to The Guardian.
The company, based in eastern North Carolina, said it was unaware that the flag would appear in the historical video shown during the event celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

“Mt Olive Pickle Company was invited to participate in the North Carolina exhibit for the Great American State Fair … as part of America’s 250th celebration,” the company stated.
Following the incident, the company emphasized its commitment to social responsibility and human rights. “Our company stands on values of human dignity, opportunity, and freedom,” it said.
Vehicle manufacturer Spevco, also part of the booth, noted that the 45-minute video was published on YouTube by an independent creator and showed the flag for only a few seconds.

A Spevco spokesperson told The News & Observer that the company “did not create, produce, edit, approve or select this historical video to be shown.”
The 16-day fair has faced several challenges, including low attendance, heat-related hospitalizations, and at least seven Democratic-governed states declining to participate due to budget or scheduling issues.
Political discussions also emerged during the anniversary events.
