"He is nearly 75 years old.

He was born in Pakistan but he has lived all his life in the UK after leaving Pakistan at the age of around 13.

He has been in the UK for around 60 years," added the minister.

Islamabad stated that the management of criminal punishments remains an internal British judicial responsibility.

"The UK should do whatever it can to him due to his criminality, which is unforgivable – but that’s for the UK to do.

We have no stake in it," concluded the minister.

Administrative checks by Pakistani departments indicated that the individual's records were formally invalidated decades ago.

"As far as Pakistan’s database and official records are concerned, Shabir Ahmed is not a Pakistani national," said a Pakistani government official.

The state confirmed that Ahmed lacks current legal identity documentation or valid passports linkable to Pakistan.

"Since renouncing his citizenship, he has not held a Pakistani CNIC [computerised national identity card] or passport, and the UK Government is fully aware of this position," added the official.

The Pakistani government indicated a willingness to review official documentation if contrary administrative evidence is submitted.

"If, at some stage, the UK provides evidence showing that Shabir Ahmed did not legally complete the required process for renouncing his Pakistani citizenship, Pakistan will obviously examine the case from that perspective," continued the official.

Islamabad maintained that current documentation supports the revocation of Ahmed's prior nationality status.

"But so far, no such evidence has been shared with Pakistan and, in our records, he followed the process and his Pakistan nationality record stands revoked," concluded the official.
