The new chapter shifts the show's focus toward a newly established women's football team at AFC Richmond.

The upcoming season will consist of 10 episodes released weekly, according to reports from Variety and Deadline.
Series creator Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso, who takes over as coach of Richmond's second-division women's squad rather than returning to the men's team.
The shift follows the season 3 finale where characters Keeley Jones and Rebecca Welton set up the concept of a Richmond women's team.
Returning cast members include Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, and Brendan Hunt as Coach Willis Beard.
Former prominent characters Jamie Tartt and Nate Shelley have departed the main roster, though cameo appearances remain possible.
The new season introduces a largely fresh ensemble to fill out the women's squad.

New additions include Faye Marsay, Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern.
Additionally, Grant Feely will take over the role of Henry Lasso from Gus Turner, a recasting driven by a storyline requiring the character to demonstrate soccer skills on the pitch.
The continuation comes after the show initially concluded its main three-season arc, leaving a three-year gap between broadcasting runs.
The series originally debuted on August 14, 2020, and holds a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Addressing the timeline, Sudeikis stated in March 2023 that the third season was "the end of this story that we wanted to tell" via Deadline.
Following months of speculation, Apple TV officially greenlit the fourth season in March 2025. The production moves forward with Lasso now depicting a character fully acclimated to U.
