Michigan residents have embraced the state's special license plate celebrating America's 250th anniversary, with more than 34,000 sold in the first half of the year.
The red, white, and blue design revives the bicentennial plate from 1976, featuring four stars and two stripes.

Available only this year, the Semiquincentennial plate was first unveiled last December and went on sale January 2.
Fee Breakdown and Renewal
A one-time $55 fee is required for the commemorative plate. Of that amount, only $5 covers the service charge for the plate itself.
The remaining $50 goes to the Michigan Transportation Fund for road construction and repairs across the state.
Drivers who keep the plate beyond the first year must pay a $10 renewal fee annually.

“The iconic, limited-edition red, white, and blue license plate is one way Michiganders can showcase that pride and mark 250 years of freedom and independence,” said Michigan deputy secretary of state Aghogho Edevbie.
Edevbie added that drivers can order the legacy plate until the end of the year.
Michigan has also introduced five new plates honoring historically Black sororities and fraternities, available exclusively to members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Phi Beta Sigma Sorority, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
