The French Football Federation asked FIFA to rescind a yellow card given to Michael Olise during their match against Paraguay to avoid a semifinal suspension risk.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino addressed a disciplinary matter regarding US player Folarin Balogun. He confirmed a phone call with US President Donald Trump but denied any outside influence.

"FIFA's departments are independent and work autonomously," Infantino said.

Trump later confirmed the conversation, arguing that Balogun's red card resulted from a standard collision. "The action for which he got red was not a foul," Trump said.

He added that preventing top players from competing hurts the tournament and requested a review.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of the tournament due to a broken wrist suffered after falling over an advertising board following England's victory against Mexico.
