Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, known for her iconic 1980s ballad "Total Eclipse of the Heart," died at age 75 on July 8, 2026, at a hospital in Faro, Portugal.
Her family and team announced the news, stating she had been battling an illness that required emergency surgery.

Tyler had been hospitalized since May after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery and being placed in an induced coma.
A statement on her official website confirmed her passing, expressing heartbreak and requesting privacy.
In June, her representatives had said the singer was out of the coma but remained very unwell in intensive care.
This forced the postponement of her scheduled European summer tour dates.
From Shy Girl to Global Superstar
Born Gaynor Hopkins, Tyler grew up in a council house in Neath, Wales.
She was discovered by a talent scout in a Swansea club, launching a 50-year music career.
After changing her name to Bonnie Tyler, she achieved international fame with her first single "Lost in France" in 1977.
She later recorded hits including "Holding Out for a Hero" and "It's a Heartache."
