in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road. The transit bus and up to 12 other vehicles were involved.

Two individuals were critically injured and temporarily trapped inside the wreckage before emergency crews extracted them.

More than 100 first responders from Baltimore, Howard, and Anne Arundel counties arrived at the scene. The area was heavily littered with debris and downed power lines.

Baltimore County Fire Chief Joseph W. Dixon likened the destruction to a "war scene" as officials declared a second mass-casualty incident alarm.

Community in Shock

Local residents expressed absolute shock at the severity of the widespread damage along the busy shopping district corridor.

"I've been in this community for over 30 years, this is by far the worst I've ever seen.

The worst," said Donna Webster, a Baltimore County resident.

She noted that the incident occurred at a location where her own family members had previously been employed.

"My daughter used to work right in that FedEx building... It's just so sad hearing about all the casualties, cars scattered all over the place.

I've never seen this," Webster said.

Other witnesses on the ground near Reisterstown Road echoed similar sentiments regarding the scale of the vehicular destruction.
