Two teenagers, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, have been charged with murder in connection with the shooting deaths of five family members in East St. Louis, Illinois.
The shootings occurred at three separate locations, primarily on Sunday, resulting in five fatalities and two injuries.

Illinois State Police reported that the suspects were apprehended in a state park shortly after the incidents.
The 16-year-old boy will be prosecuted as an adult.
The case against the girl will initially be handled in juvenile court, with the possibility of a transfer to St. Clair County criminal court, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
Father Speaks Out
Marcus May, the father of the 15-year-old girl, said his daughter had been upset with certain family members and allegedly conspired with her boyfriend, Ja’ymeir Davis, to carry out the attacks.
May expressed profound grief, stating, "I lost a nephew, two stepchildren, my mother and a sister. They were 74, 49, 25, 24 and 21 years old."

Davis faces multiple charges, including murder and seven additional crimes. It remains unclear whether he has legal representation to comment on the allegations.
A court hearing is pending.
Although most shootings occurred over the weekend, one victim, May's sister Cherie, was shot days earlier, as noted in court documents.
The motive for these tragic events has not yet been disclosed.
