Before his breakthrough with Space Oddity in 1969, Bowie played a blues-influenced, slightly psychedelic pop-rock style.
The tracks were produced by Shel Talmy, known for his work with the Kinks and the Who.
Talmy frequently collaborated with session guitarist Jimmy Page, who played as a member of the Manish Boys backing Bowie on these sessions.
Renowned pianist Nicky Hopkins, who worked with the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, also contributed.
