Alfa Romeo has confirmed that work on the next-generation Giulia and Stelvio is ongoing, following concerns that the models had been canceled.

A Stellantis spokesperson stated that “future evolutions of Giulia and Stelvio in the D segment” remain part of the brand’s product pipeline.

The clarification came after a Stellantis investor day slide listed only a vague “New D-Segment (Under Study)” for Alfa Romeo’s 2030 plans, omitting the Giulia and Stelvio nameplates.

That omission sparked rumors that the long-awaited successors had been shelved.

However, the spokesperson emphasized that all future products are being evaluated market by market, and Alfa Romeo remains committed to North America.

The statement also highlighted a robust global pipeline, including a refreshed Junior, a new C-SUV, and a C-segment hatchback.

The current Giulia and Stelvio have been on sale since 2015 and 2016, respectively.

They received a life extension through 2028, and the V6 Quadrifoglio version recently returned to production.

But their successors have faced multiple delays and shifts in strategy, originally planned as fully electric models before hybrid options were considered.

It remains unclear whether Alfa Romeo will develop two separate successors or merge the sedan and SUV into a single model to reduce costs.

Earlier reports suggested the Giulia successor might adopt a fastback crossover stance, while the only prototype spotted so far was an SUV resembling the next Stelvio.

Patent drawings have provided a glimpse of the exterior design, but the project has since been delayed.

Whether Alfa Romeo is revising that prototype or starting from scratch is unknown.

What is clear is that the brand is reworking its plans to navigate a competitive market.
