Schutterij Sint Hubertus from Ubachsberg has won the 2026 Oud Limburgs Schuttersfeest (OLS) in Melick.
The victory came on Saturday, July 11, after the association shot down the most target blocks.
The win grants Sint Hubertus the main prize, D'n Um. They also earn the traditional right to organize the next edition of the annual shooting tournament.
Competition Highlights
Sint Nicolaas Meijel, the last remaining association from North Limburg, missed a target block during the sixth shootout round.
That miss occurred at approximately 1:10 p. m.
, placing them outside the top 10 positions.
The elimination of the Meijel group followed an earlier miss by the Akkermansgilde from Venlo. Regional broadcaster Omroep P&M reported the details.
Intense sunlight initially delayed the tournament start by one hour. The opening round was pushed from 11:00 a.
m. to 12:00 p.
m. before the 23 remaining shooting associations could compete.
Local government officials from Peel en Maas attended the event. Mayor Bob Vostermans, along with Frits Berben and Suzan Hermans, were present to support the Meijel competitors.
Weather conditions such as wind, sun, and heat increased the difficulty for participants. Concentration and technique remained critical factors during the finals.
An unnamed competitor summed up the approach: "Point by point, pellet by pellet. Then we'll see where it takes us."
