FC Twente has blocked defender Robin Propper from leaving the club this summer despite interest from Go Ahead Eagles.

The 32-year-old has lost his starting role and captaincy after falling behind youngster Ruud Nijstad.

Go Ahead Eagles manager Joseph Oosting personally contacted Propper to discuss a potential move to Deventer.

The interest arose amid transfer uncertainty surrounding Go Ahead defender Joris Kramer, who attracted interest from rival clubs, including a rejected bid from FC Groningen.

Contract and Financial Hurdles

Reports indicated Go Ahead Eagles sought to acquire Propper on loan.

However, FC Twente management remains unwilling to facilitate the departure of the experienced center-back, who signed a three-year contract last summer upon returning from Scottish club Rangers FC.

Propper lost his starting spot to teenager Ruud Nijstad following an injury last season.

With Nijstad extending his contract and pairing effectively alongside Stav Lemkin, manager John van den Brom opted to assign the captain's armband to Bart van Rooij for the upcoming season.

While Propper has expressed frustration regarding his diminished playing time, he remains one of the top earners at Enschede.

A permanent transfer to Go Ahead Eagles is financially unfeasible without significant concessions.

Media analyst Tijmen van Wissing reported that Go Ahead Eagles technical director Marc van Hintum is fully aware of Propper's salary through agent Louis Laros.

Meanwhile, general director Jan Willem van Dop stated he had no official knowledge of an impending deal.

Propper continues pre-season training with FC Twente as a backup option, as the club refuses to grant his release ahead of the new campaign.
