It will underpin the next-generation Caddy, Multivan, and Transporter, and supply components for the next Crafter.

A successor to the e-Crafter, sold between 2018 and 2022, is in the works, likely offering longer range to rival the Ford e-Transit and Renault Master E-Tech.
The automaker is also considering a zero-emission variant of the Caddy. The current generation debuted in 2020 and received a facelift in mid-2026, offering diesel and PHEV options.

It remains unclear whether the e-Caddy will use an electrified MQB architecture or jump to MEB.
