Manchester United has completed the signing of Wales Under-21 goalkeeper Kit Margetson. The 20-year-old joins from Swansea City after a compensation package was agreed.
The deal was finalized on July 27, 2026, following the expiration of Margetson's contract with the Championship side.

Swansea was entitled to compensation for his development, having been with the club since the under-15 level.
Margetson had announced his departure from Swansea earlier this month. The club later confirmed the agreement and wished him well.
"Everyone at Swansea City wishes Kit every success during his time at Old Trafford," the club said in an official statement.
Although Margetson never made a senior competitive appearance for Swansea, he was named in the first-team matchday squad against Millwall during the 2024-25 season.

He spent last season on loan at Welsh side Connah's Quay Nomads, keeping 10 clean sheets in 34 appearances and helping them secure European qualification.
Manchester United had been tracking the 6-foot-4-inch goalkeeper for some time. Senior goalkeeping scout Tony Coton was spotted watching Margetson during a Cymru Premier match in March.
Margetson follows 18-year-old former Tottenham winger Tynan Thompson as another youth prospect joining United under manager Michael Carrick.

Margetson's move to Old Trafford comes after his father, Martyn Margetson, stepped down as Swansea's head of goalkeeping at the end of the 2025-26 season.
