A man attacked three women with kitchen knives in the Porte de Clichy area of Paris on Monday morning, injuring them before being detained by an off-duty police officer, said French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez.
The victims, aged 19, 24, and 36, were taken to hospital. Two suffered severe wounds, but their lives were not in danger, according to Nunez.

One woman was reportedly pregnant.
The attacker used two kitchen knives during the assault.
One victim was wounded in the abdomen and another in the lower back, as reported by the minister.
The man was apprehended at the scene by an off-duty officer, whom Nunez praised for his courageous act.
"I pay tribute to him, it was a courageous act," Nunez said.

The attacker’s identity remains unverified, and his statements during arrest were described as incoherent by authorities.
"We need to be very careful with respect to the motives for this very violent attack," Nunez cautioned, advising against premature conclusions about the suspect’s intentions.
Reports indicated the man declared, "It is Allah who ordered me," though the interior minister noted this was part of incoherent remarks and downplayed any terrorist motives, suggesting possible mental health issues.
The French anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office is monitoring the investigation carried out by the Paris prosecutor's office.

The attack occurred near the brasserie Les Deux Coupoles and the Porte de Clichy tram stop in the north of Paris.
