A 31-year-old man stabbed three women, including one who is pregnant, in a sudden attack in Porte de Clichy, northwest Paris, before being restrained by an off-duty police officer and bystanders.

According to BFMTV, two of the victims are in critical condition and receiving emergency medical treatment.

Paramedics treated all three at the scene before rushing them to a local hospital, as reported by The Mirror.

Social media footage showed the suspect running through the streets wielding two knives and lunging at a passerby.

Bystanders fled before a group subdued him using a chair. Blood was visible on his right hand, and two knives lay discarded on a pedestrian crossing.

French officials confirmed the arrest. The suspect is believed to be suffering from mental health issues.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez described the suspect's statements as "incoherent" and cautioned against drawing premature conclusions about his motive.

Law enforcement has not released further details about the victims' identities as the investigation continues.
