Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo rejected a transfer proposal from Turkish club Fenerbahce during an initial meeting on July 27, 2026.

The 27-year-old Dutch international chose to remain in Europe's top five leagues if he departs Anfield.

Gakpo remains content at Liverpool, where his contract runs through mid-2030, despite persistent transfer speculation throughout the summer window.

Turkish outlet Fanatik reported that Fenerbahce inquired about acquiring the versatile attacker to bolster their squad alongside recent signee Mason Greenwood.

Gakpo immediately turned down the approach.

Fenerbahce had previously added Dutch international Nathan Ake from Manchester City on a contract through 2029 and appointed Dirk Kuyt as an assistant coach.

Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid had previously been linked to Gakpo, though no formal negotiations developed.

Liverpool Pursues Bradley Barcola

The uncertainty around Gakpo's position follows Liverpool's push to secure Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola under new manager Andoni Iraola.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano provided details regarding Liverpool's pursuit of the French winger.

"Liverpool has been considered the big favorite for Bradley Barcola's signature since April and is still working on a transfer," Fabrizio Romano said.

"Barcola is open to a move and prioritizes Liverpool's project, provided the club can reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool is currently waiting for an indication from PSG regarding the asking price and conditions of a potential transfer."

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira reported that Liverpool reached an agreement in principle with Barcola on a contract through mid-2032 with a top-tier salary.

PSG reportedly seeks at least 130 million euros for Barcola, who features on the left flank alongside Desire Doue and represented France at the 2026 World Cup.
