Rangers manager Derek McInnes has made his choice for the club's new captain, though he has not yet disclosed the decision publicly.
The captaincy became vacant after James Tavernier's departure, and several players have been considered during pre-season.

Captaincy Candidates
Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, and Ben Godfrey have all worn the armband in pre-season matches.
Dujon Sterling was also in contention after the recent draw against West Ham United.
McInnes acknowledged he is fortunate to have multiple strong candidates. "A lot of people get obsessed with who's the captain - I understand that," he said.
"But I do think I'm fortunate in that I've got a few that I can consider for that position."
The manager has been observing players' leadership qualities both on and off the pitch.
"I feel as though I've made my mind up about that, but I just wanted to see how everybody was with the armband really and just have a look from afar at how they are.

But I see more of that kind of quality day in, day out," McInnes added.
Decision Timeline
While the decision has not been a primary focus in recent discussions, McInnes expects to finalize it this week.
"Is my mind made up?
Yeah, I'm still talking to the staff because it's not been at the forefront of my thoughts, to be honest," he said.
"I understand the question and it is a big thing - particularly at this club.
But it hasn't been at the forefront of any discussions, but obviously we'll make a decision on that this week."

The new captain will lead the team in the season opener against Dundee United.
