Warm air masses originating from North Africa are streaming across the Iberian Peninsula and France into southwestern Germany.
The heat will intensify rapidly, pushing temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius in several regions by Wednesday.

Rising temperatures will bring severe heat across the Upper Rhine and Karlsruhe regions, where highs are projected to hit between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius mid-week.
Tropical nights, where temperatures do not dip below 20 degrees Celsius, are expected across the region starting Tuesday night.

Thursday will mark the peak of the weather event.
Highs are forecast to reach 32 degrees in higher mountain regions, 35 degrees in Upper Swabia, 37 degrees in Stuttgart, and up to 40 degrees along the Upper Rhine.
Even elevated areas like the Feldberg could see temperatures near 25 degrees Celsius.

"38 oder 39 Grad werden sicherlich erreicht und ich halte auch die 40 Grad für möglich," said Gernot Schütz, SWR Weather Expert.
Atmospheric factors, such as smoke from ongoing wildfires in southwestern France, could influence whether regional temperatures hit the 40-degree mark.
