The captain concluded his assessment by noting the potential motive behind the naval vessel's actions.
"So it sounds like it might have been an effort to intimidate us.
It could well have been, it might have just been a little bit of a warning shot. Maybe just to show a force or something," said Coker.
Government representatives responded to the incident by confirming official diplomatic communications with maritime counterparts in France.
"We are in contact with the French authorities to understand the full context of this incident," said a Home Office Spokesperson.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham acknowledged that current enforcement strategy requires continued operational adjustments despite recent policy updates.
"More to do," said Burnham.
He cited lower overall arrival figures across the Channel as evidence of policy progress.
"The home secretary has brought forward a very rigorous plan in relation to this, and let’s remember, the numbers can fluctuate but overall boat crossings are down, down quite significantly year on year.
So that does suggest that the plan is working," said Burnham.

"Threat to national security," said Burnham.

"There have to be rigorous checks so that people are not put through into a situation where they are out without the relevant safeguards, and absolutely, I can give you a commitment that that is the clear instruction that I am giving.
