"Demonstrating for a cause is a proper right in the Netherlands and we must be careful with that.

I also understand the concerns. But last night's destruction and arson do not fit a demonstration and we condemn them.

We have a lot of understanding for the fact that they demonstrate, but it must happen within certain limits.

And arson, especially at this time, is not wise," said Blom.

Municipal leadership expressed an ongoing desire to re-engage in formal dialogue directly with local agricultural operators regarding the policy implementation.

"We understand the concerns of farmers.

We experience that we stand alongside our farmers and would very much like to get in touch with them," said Blom.

Regional law enforcement personnel monitored traffic flow on major arteries, including a tractor demonstration on the A28 motorway near Zwolle, choosing not to detain any participating protesters.

"Our focus was on traffic safety and restoring the flow of other traffic," said a police spokesperson.

Separately, the Council of State dismissed legal objections raised by citizen group Helder Nunspeet regarding a long-standing residential construction dispute on Veelhorsterweg, ruling that municipal authorities acted within legal discretion despite earlier procedural oversights.
