"Between them, they've won five MVPs, they need help right now," he said.
ESPN's Jeff Passan also linked Jeffers to the Yankees. "It feels like where Ryan Jeffers is going has been preordained for months now," Passan said.
Passan highlighted that alternative catchers on the market would cost significantly more.
"The Yankees need a right-handed hitter, they need power, and they need a catcher; and while there are other options out there, they are going to cost a whole lot more," he said.
Passan reported that Jeffers is unlikely to re-sign in Minnesota, drawing interest from divisional rivals like the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays.
A recent Pinstripe Alley survey showed 74% of Yankees fans prioritize catching help as the team's top championship need.
