Former Dutch professional cyclist Thomas Dekker and his partner Debby have announced the loss of their unborn child, Sammi, during pregnancy.

The couple shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, just weeks after publicly revealing they were expecting their second child.

In their message, they reflected on their grief following the sudden loss. "Dear Sammi, we had to let you go.

You were still so small, yet already a little human being. You flew away from us like a little butterfly.

You are in our hearts forever," they wrote.

Pregnancy Announcement in June

The couple had announced the pregnancy in June with a video expressing their surprise and excitement. "There's a baby coming.

We never expected this. We can't wait to see what lies ahead for us," Dekker said at the time.
