The financial downfall follows the collapse of his Rivoli amusement park project in Rotterdam, which consumed over 60 million euros of his personal capital before the municipality canceled the initiative due to repeated delays.
The upcoming liquidation scheduled for September will feature the former Speelstad Oranje amusement park near Assen, which has been vacant for a decade, alongside a 145-hectare industrial estate in Schuinesloot.
Auction Details and Properties
Vastgoed Veiling Director Richard Dieteren confirmed the comprehensive real estate auction, highlighting the scale of the former amusement park property.
"Speelstad Oranje is a property with a special history and a huge size. Many people have very good memories of this park," said Dieteren.
Dieteren noted that the closure of the park opens up significant possibilities for future commercial or residential redevelopment projects.
"The recreational exploitation has been terminated for years, but precisely because of this, space is created for a new interpretation.
For developers, recreational entrepreneurs, and investors, this can be a very interesting location," he said.
