West Ham United is closing in on a transfer for Celtic midfielder Arne Engels as the club seeks to rebuild its squad following its recent relegation from the Premier League.
Italian journalist Matteo Moretto reported on X that the English side is nearing an agreement for the 22-year-old Belgian international.

The move follows West Ham raising over £140 million through the sales of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur and Crysencio Summerville to Al-Hilal.
Engels' Celtic Record
Engels joined Celtic for a club-record £11 million fee in 2024, scoring 17 goals and registering 21 assists in 98 appearances.
Celtic previously rejected a £25 million offer from Nottingham Forest for Engels, while AS Roma was recently quoted a £26 million price tag.

In addition to Engels, West Ham is targeting Celtic's Japanese international midfielder Reo Hatate.

Hatate has expressed a desire to leave the Scottish club for a new challenge, with Celtic expected to demand around £6 million for his transfer.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill stated that he will allow Hatate to depart for the right price.
The Scottish champions have already completed the signing of striker Kasper Hogh for £11 million plus add-ons, while sanctioning the £10 million sale of Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town.
Meanwhile, Everton is preparing a bid for Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston following his World Cup performances with Canada.
