President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that a historic agreement was reached for the total disarmament of armed groups in Gaza.
However, ongoing military exchanges outside Gaza threaten to expand the geographical scope of the broader conflict.
Hamas Conditions for Disarmament
Ghazi Hamad, a key negotiator for Hamas, stated to CNN that weapons steps depend entirely on Israeli compliance.
Hamad explained that Israeli forces must halt attacks, pull back to designated lines, permit humanitarian aid, and allow a Palestinian technocratic committee to enter Gaza.
"The agreement is a package," said Ghazi Hamad. "We will not begin any weapons-related steps until Israel implements these commitments.
Frankly, if Israel does not implement them, we will not proceed."
Hamad emphasized that light weapons belonging to local police will transfer to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, whereas heavy weaponry will be placed in monitored storage rather than destroyed.
"Our experience with the first phase was very bad. Israel did not abide by the agreement and there were," said Ghazi Hamad.

Despite the Gaza truce roadmap, Iranian military forces launched a drone strike against Kuwait's Ahmad Al-Jaber airbase on July 31.
