Amsterdam and Enschede have introduced fatbike bans in specific locations to address safety concerns and complaints from the public and local businesses.
In Enschede, the ban applies during daytime in the downtown shopping area, while Amsterdam's ban covers the Vondelpark since May 11.

Since implementation, authorities have issued a total of 103 fines combined—94 in Amsterdam and nine in Enschede.
Enschede's Ban and Its Impact
Enschede was the first to impose the ban due to numerous complaints about fatbikes speeding and performing stunts that made pedestrians feel unsafe.
Municipal enforcement officers have so far issued 33 warnings alongside the fines.
"I can really say that the ban works," said Marc Teutelink, alderman of Enschede.
He added, "We see that there are far fewer unsafe situations and we also hear those sentiments from shopkeepers and shoppers."
Nicole Workel-ten Bos, chair of the shopping district association Winkelhart, confirmed the positive impact, noting, "It is much calmer for visitors.
People are addressing each other, which creates a form of social control that we as entrepreneurs find pleasant."

Amsterdam's Ban and Public Feedback
Amsterdam implemented the fatbike ban one month after Enschede.
The city has received positive feedback from cyclists and park visitors, with enforcement officers issuing 94 fines up to early July.
"The ban should ensure that the Vondelpark becomes a safe and pleasant place again," said alderman Melanie van der Horst.
