Princess Isabella of Denmark will not receive a salary or daily allowance during her mandatory military service, which begins next month.
The 19-year-old, the eldest daughter of King Frederik and Queen Mary, will start her 11-month draft on Monday.

Standard conscripts in Denmark typically earn about 9,034 kroner per month plus a daily meal allowance of 277 kroner.
Princess Isabella's decision mirrors that of her older brother, Crown Prince Christian, who also declined military pay during his service in 2025 and has accepted no government allowance.

A Precedent Set by Royal Peers
The move also follows a similar choice by Princess Amalia of the Netherlands.
In a 2021 letter to then-Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the Dutch heir waived her allowance upon turning 18, writing, "I find it uncomfortable as long as I can offer little in return."

Princess Amalia subsequently stopped reimbursing her expense allowance last year, according to Blauw Bloed. Princess Isabella's decision aligns with this royal tradition of forgoing state funds during service.
