Audi’s Nuvolari supercar, the successor to the R8, was developed in record time.
The car went from a simple doodle to a fully functional prototype in just 405 days.
This rapid development is part of Audi’s new ‘China speed’ strategy, aimed at matching the quick turnaround times of Chinese automakers.
A Glimpse into the Documentary
Audi has released a 20-minute documentary detailing the Nuvolari’s creation. It shows the journey from initial sketches to 3D renderings and finally to a running prototype.
The prototype has already been tested by Audi’s Formula 1 drivers, Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
Borrowed Tech and Performance
The Nuvolari shares its powertrain with the Lamborghini Temerario, featuring a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and three electric motors.
However, Audi has upgraded the battery to 7.3 kWh, compared to the Temerario’s 3.8 kWh.
This results in a combined output of 987 hp, surpassing the Temerario’s 907 hp.
The Nuvolari is limited to just 499 units worldwide.
Deliveries are expected to begin in the first half of next year, with prices starting around €600,000 ($691,000).
