The No. 3-seeded Florida State University baseball team begins its postseason run against the No. 14-seeded University of Pittsburgh Panthers in the quarterfinals of the 2026 ACC Baseball Tournament.

The game is scheduled for Friday, May 22, at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A weather delay caused by lightning near the ballpark pushed the original 3 p. m.

ET start time back to 5 p. m.

ET, according to reports from USA Today Network.

Seminoles Adjust Strategy

Florida State earned a double bye after finishing the regular season with a 19-11 record in conference play.

Pittsburgh advanced by pulling off two consecutive upset victories despite an 11-19 regular-season conference record.

Seminoles head coach Link Jarrett adjusted his postseason strategy by treating the matchup like a standard weekend series.

He elected to start ACC Pitcher of the Year Wes Mendes immediately rather than saving him for a later round.

Mendes enters the quarterfinal matchup carrying a 9-3 record and a 2.57 ERA.

Pittsburgh has not yet announced its starting pitcher for the contest.

History favors the Seminoles, who hold a 32-8 all-time regular-season record against the Panthers.

Florida State completed a series sweep against Pittsburgh earlier this season in Tallahassee.

The national broadcast for this inaugural postseason matchup between the two programs is scheduled on the ACC Network, with live streaming available through ESPN+.
