The Texas Longhorns baseball team defeated the Oregon Ducks 6-5 on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the Austin Super Regional to secure a spot in the Men's College World Series.
Texas won both matchups at UFCU Disch-Falk Field to advance to the tournament under head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
The victory marks the 39th time in program history that the Longhorns have reached the College World Series.
Game-Winning Hit
Infielder Adrian Rodriguez delivered the game-winning hit in the eighth inning while Texas trailed by one run.
Rodriguez hit a two-out, two-run double down the left field line against Oregon closer Devin Bell to drive in the decisive runs.
Prior to the game-winning hit, Rodriguez had spent the first half of the season recovering from a surgically repaired hand.
The discomfort was heightened by an allergic reaction to a staple, forcing him to sit out for two weeks in April to have it removed.
The double by Rodriguez drove his total to seven RBIs during the super regional matchups.
Following the hit, Texas closer Sam Cozart entered the game and retired all six batters he faced to secure the victory for the Longhorns.
Early Lead and Oregon's Response
Texas initially built a 4-0 lead in the first two innings after Aiden Robbins and Carson Tinney hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the game.
Ashton Larson later scored on an error, and Tinney drove in Dariyan Pendergrass with a single.
Oregon responded by scoring one run in the second inning on an infield single by Naulivou Lauaki.
The Ducks added two more runs in the third inning when Drew Smith doubled to score a run and later crossed home plate on a single by Brayden Jacksa.
The Ducks tied the game 4-4 in the fifth inning on a run-scoring groundout by Burke-Lee Mabeus.
Oregon took its first lead of the super regional in the seventh inning when a runner advanced on a passed ball and scored on a groundout against pitcher Thomas Burns.
Pitching and Next Opponent
Texas starting pitcher Ruger Riojas threw 111 pitches into the sixth inning, allowing four runs and walking a season-high four batters.
Oregon starter Will Sanford threw 98 pitches into the middle innings before being relieved by Tanner Bradley.
The victory improves the overall record for Texas to 45-13, while Oregon concludes its season with a 43-18 record.
The Longhorns are scheduled to face Georgia in the opening round of the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
