The Indiana Fever signed rookie forward Grace VanSlooten to a rest-of-season contract on Friday, May 22, 2026, to address frontcourt depth issues caused by recent injuries.
The move came one day after the team waived veteran guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough to free up a roster spot.

Injury Concerns Prompt Roster Move
Frontcourt depth became a priority for Indiana after forward Monique Billings missed the regular-season opener with an ankle injury.
Center Aliyah Boston also sat out a May 17 game due to a lower leg injury.
VanSlooten, a 6-foot-3 forward, was waived by the Seattle Storm on May 18, just four games into her rookie season.
Seattle selected her with the No. 39 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft out of Michigan State University.

In her brief stint with Seattle, VanSlooten averaged 4.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per game.
Her final appearance came against Indiana on May 17, where she recorded five points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 18 minutes.
During her collegiate career at Michigan State, VanSlooten earned All-Big Ten honors twice. She averaged 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a senior.
The signing balances Indiana's lineup by adding a frontcourt presence capable of spacing the floor.
