Construction firm Bovis has ended its involvement after signing a pre-construction services agreement in 2024 to build the new Main Stand.

Meanwhile, contractor Morrisroe has also stepped away from its agreement covering design, demolition, piling, and structural works.

The project aims to expand Selhurst Park's capacity by approximately 8,000 seats to a total of 34,000.

Despite the contractor departures, the club completed the purchase of six residential properties in January for demolition to facilitate construction.

Expert Analysis on Contractor Exits

Football finance expert Adam Williams, Head of Football Finance and Governance Content at GRV Media, offered insights on the situation in a report by wearepalace.

"So, Bovis had a PCSA, which is a pre-construction services agreement. It sounds like that has simply been fulfilled and they have moved on.

That's not uncommon," Williams said.

Williams noted that the structural contract with Morrisroe concluded before significant physical operations began.

"It sounds like the other company involved, Morrisroe, however, was appointed to do actual work on demolition and structures, but that contract has also reportedly ended before much of that work has started.

To me, that seems like the more newsworthy nugget here," he added.

The club has secured financing from Goldman Sachs for the expansion, which remains delayed due to planning processes and contractor negotiations.
