The Bank of Scotland introduced a limited edition £20 banknote on Monday, May 25, 2026, honoring midfielder Scott McTominay and the national team's World Cup qualification.
The design merges traditional Scottish banknote aesthetics with a modern tribute to the successful qualifying campaign, as reported by the BBC.

The imagery references McTominay's opening goal from a 4-2 victory over Denmark at Hampden Park last November, which secured Scotland's first World Cup appearance in 28 years.
Only 100 copies have been printed, with 50 notes available to the public through an online collector auction ending at 11 a.
m. on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Fans can also acquire them via a prize draw or by cracking codes at interactive pop-up vaults in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
"Reaching the biggest stage of world football is something every player dreams of, and I know it means everything to our fans," stated McTominay.
The former Manchester United player noted that the historic moment belongs to all supporters of the national team.
