San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Dylan Harper has etched his name into NBA playoff history alongside Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Harper became the second rookie ever to record at least 300 points on 60% true shooting during a single postseason run, according to HITC.

The milestone came ahead of Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals against the New York Knicks.

The former Rutgers standout previously scored 21 points in San Antonio's 107-106 Game 4 loss at Madison Square Garden.

Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, set the benchmark during the 1970 playoffs with the Milwaukee Bucks.

He posted 352 points, averaging 35.2 points and 16.8 rebounds across 10 games while shooting 60.8% true shooting.

Harper's father, five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, defended his son against online critics on social media platform X.

"Yet I keep seeing d___ a__ comments lol does your kid play?" Ron Harper tweeted.

The elder Harper emphasized his son's scoring efficiency and vital role in the Finals without needing high usage rates.

The championship series also marks a historic first for Filipino American representation.

Harper and Knicks guard Jordan Clarkson are the first players of Filipino descent to face each other in the NBA Finals.

"It's a blessing to represent the Philippines and where I'm from. I think Jordan Clarkson [and I] do a great job in doing that," Harper said.
