"She tested it out, didn't feel well," said Liberty coach Chris DeMarco. He added that Sabally is questionable for Friday's rematch against Phoenix in Brooklyn.
Sabally signed with New York as a free agent in the offseason after one season with the Mercury.
She described the move as being "where I wanted to be next. In an environment that encourages me and believes in me."
Sabally noted that her departure from Phoenix was somewhat mutual, saying the front office "wanted to keep their options open.
We had respectful conversations."
Phoenix missed Sabally's presence on the court, dropping its fourth straight game despite 19 points from Kahleah Copper.
"Obviously she's a great player, we miss her a lot," said Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner.
