Prior to this achievement, his career highlights included a quarter-final run at Wimbledon last year and securing two ATP 500 titles to reach a career-high ranking of 12.

He also played an instrumental role last November in helping Italy retain the Davis Cup title by winning all three of his matches while Jannik Sinner was absent.

Previous Encounters and Sporting Roots

Cobolli and Zverev have already faced each other twice during the current clay season.

The Italian claimed his first victory over the German in the Munich semi-finals in April, though Zverev later avenged that loss with a win in Madrid.

Zverev secured a straight-sets victory against Cobolli at Roland Garros last year and remains the clear favorite to win his first Grand Slam title.

However, the Italian benefits from knowing exactly what to expect from his German rival on this surface.

Tennis was not always the definitive path for Cobolli, who played football at a high level during his youth alongside current professional players like Riccardo Calafiori, Edoardo Bove, and Nicola Zalewski.

He ultimately chose tennis because of his distinct preference for competing alone on the court, a trait that will be tested under the suffocating pressure of a Grand Slam final stadium.
