I’m just like every Giants fan and the guys in the locker room and just not happy with the results.
So the only way to change the results is to improve our approach and trust that the results will come.
That’s 100% where I’m focused at now, so I’m not concerned with any of that.”

Vitello also accepted responsibility for the team's performance and lineup decisions.
“Yeah, ultimately, I’ve got to make the call, and I have zero problem with it,” Vitello said regarding game management.
“Normally, I avoid criticism about this or that, but sometimes you can’t. I’m my harshest critic.
These [players] are the guys I care about, and I’m good with being the final say.
I’ve got no problem being the bad guy or the fall guy, either.”
General manager Zack Minasian expressed strong support for Vitello, emphasizing the front office's confidence in his leadership.
“Obviously, our record’s not where we want it to be, but for me, and I feel comfortable speaking for the front office, he’s someone that’s been very easy to work with and someone you like to be around,” Minasian said.
“He’s a tireless worker with a great combination of empathy and passion.
He’s got all the intangibles, everything you need to be very successful, and I fully expect him to be in that dugout for a while.”
Minasian noted that the leadership group, including Buster Posey, intentionally gives Vitello autonomy on the field.
“Ultimately, he’s the one in the dugout during the game, and we don’t want to strip that responsibility from him,” Minasian said.
“We want him to feel comfortable with what he’s running out there and the moves he’s going to make with the bullpen.
I think the entire group works very well together, and we’re here to support each other and challenge each other, but we want him to have the autonomy to put a lineup out there.”
