Washington began its six-game Western road swing by winning two of three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, outscoring them 20-2 in the first two victories before dropping Sunday's finale 5-1.
Outfielder Daylen Lile, one of six Nationals players to homer during the series in Phoenix, expressed pride in the young team's progress.
"I'm proud for the team and where we are," Lile said, "because I know a lot of people had doubts about us, especially as young as we are.
I feel like we're shutting a lot of people up. Hopefully, we can continue that."
Right-hander Miles Mikolas is scheduled to start for Washington, bringing a 1-5 record and a 6.39 ERA.
Mikolas previously pitched four shutout relief innings against San Francisco in a 3-0 home win in April, and holds a career 5-1 record with a 2.91 ERA across 11 appearances against the Giants.
