Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour chose to alter his lineup to give his usual starting goaltender additional recovery time before the upcoming matchups.
"Let [Andersen] rest," said Brind'Amour.
The decision left Pyotr Kochetkov as the backup goalie while Andersen remained dressed as the emergency third option.
"Give him as many days here as we can," said Brind'Amour.
