The Carolina Hurricanes clinched their first Stanley Cup title since 2006 by defeating Vegas in a six-game series on Sunday night.
The victory ended an eight-season playoff journey for the franchise, which overcame multiple series deficits and secured two road wins at T-Mobile Arena.

This is the second Stanley Cup for the organization since relocating from Hartford after the 1996–97 season.

General Manager Eric Tulsky, who holds 27 scientific patents and has a background in physics, chemistry, and nanotechnology, guided roster construction and on-ice strategy through data tracking and analytical hires.
“We’ve really focused on finding people who fit the way we want to play,” Tulsky said.
“Our scouts have done a great job finding players who came in, look their best, and play the way we need them to play.”

The championship also marks the first NHL title for owner Tom Dundon, who acquired a controlling stake in 2018 for $420 million.
The Hurricanes’ valuation has since risen to $2 billion, and Dundon is overseeing a $300 million renovation of Lenovo Center, expected to be completed by 2028.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman praised Dundon: “Tom has been an extraordinary owner … his work in creating a competitive and successful team is the reason we’re here.”

Television viewership on ABC surged during the finals, averaging 5 million viewers through the first four games—a 101% increase from the previous year on TNT Sports and the highest since 2015.
