The Wales men's national rugby team took on the Barbarians in an un-capped warm-up fixture at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, London, on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The match serves as a crucial tune-up for Wales ahead of their Nations Championship opener against Fiji on July 4, alongside scheduled July tests against Argentina and South Africa.

During the first half, Dan Edwards and Kieran Hardy scored tries for Wales, with Edwards adding two conversions.

The Barbarians responded with a try from Vincent Koch amid intense heat that required official water breaks.

Former Wales international Gareth Delve shared his tactical perspective during the live broadcast on BBC Radio Wales.

"It's been pretty end-to-end so far. Plumtree and Wainwright are superb athletes and they're showing their skill sets," Delve said.

Delve noted that while the athletic roster selected by Wales suited the open nature of the game, the physical dominance of the opposition caused issues.

"Wales have picked a very athletic team today which is usually perfect for the conditions and nature of a Barbarians game.

But the sheer size and physicality of this Baa-Baas pack is getting them opportunities off the back of Welsh mistakes," he added.

The commentator also observed that Wales struggled to maintain their preferred rhythm as the first half progressed.

"It's been really sloppy from Wales and they are getting dragged into a game that they don't want with the Barbarians," Delve said.
